A completely live, first-take blues fusion improvisation — no rehearsed solo, just following the ideas as they happen.

This performance explores some of my favourite advanced blues and fusion concepts, including:

Outside playing – creating tension by deliberately moving outside the underlying harmony

Jeff Beck-style bar work – using the tremolo arm for expressive bends, pitch manipulation and vocal-like phrasing Hybrid picking licks – combining pick and fingers for fast, fluid and highly articulated lines Advanced blues phrasing – taking traditional blues vocabulary into more sophisticated harmonic territory Dynamic expression and phrasing – using space, vibrato and articulation to make the guitar sing Great guitar tone – because the sound is an important part of the improvisation The aim isn't to produce a perfectly constructed solo. It's about improvising in the moment, taking risks and seeing where the music goes.
